ABSTRACT

Since September 2014, Ghent University Global Campus offers three bachelor’s programs in Incheon (Korea): BSc in molecular biotechnology, BSc in food technology and BSc in environmental technology, jointly organized by the faculty of Sciences and the faculty of Bioscience engineering (Ghent University). In a first part, the campus and it’s education will be briefly presented along with an exciting job opportunity for ambitious postdocs to establish their own lab as independent professor and group leader.
Indeed, top notch plant growth facilities and lab infrastructures have been opened in Korea in 2016 and since then research in plant biotechnology has been initiated, in close collaboration with the VIB-Ugent center for Plant Systems Biology. Research focusses on cell elongation, in two model systems: Arabidopsis thaliana and Oryza sativa (rice). An overview of current research lines (including the use biostimulants & genome editing to stimulate elongation as well as ongoing phenotyping efforts) will be presented.
